FACT Abu Dhabi has a chat with Russell Small, of The Freemasons, ahead of his gig at the Podium Lounge Abu Dhabi F1 parties this month! The Freemasons will be performing at the Du Forum on Yas Island on Friday 27th November.
Are you looking forward to performing/playing at the Podium Lounge F1 After Parties in Abu Dhabi?
I’m really looking forward to it. From what I have seen online, these events are a lot of fun to perform at.
What kind of show are you going to bring to the Podium Lounge Abu Dhabi?
I will be doing a DJ set with a mixture of Freemasons classics, new tracks, old tracks, and some of the best vocal house around.
Are you an F1 fan? What does the sport mean to you?
I do watch Formula One on the TV, and I’ve also been to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. I was lucky enough to go in by helicopter, which just added to my whole experience. It’s a sport that’s gathering more and more interest, it appeals to just about anyone that drives. Secretly everyone wants to be a racing car driver, or at sometime has pretended to be, and the whole buzz behind it is amazing, whether you watch it on television or see it live.
Have you been to the Gulf before? What are your thoughts on playing here?
I’ve been to the Gulf a few times over the years, and I’m hoping this is going to be one of my gigs of the year. The excitement that surrounds F1 and anything connected with it should make for an amazing party.
Aside from performing at the Podium Lounge, is there anything else you’re going to be seeing/doing in the UAE?
I’m coming in and going straight out afterwards, so I won’t be able to explore at all, unfortunately.
Do you have any message for the Abu Dhabi F1 party crowd?
I’m looking forward to a fun night, and I’ll hopefully see you all there!
