In a food market that’s burgeoning with Indian restaurants, both casual and fine dining, traditional and contemporary, you really need to bring some thing special to the table to stand out. FACT dines at the Little Miss India Saturday Brunch in Fairmont The Palm to see exactly how this venue is keeping up  it’s A-game…

Move over Friday Brunch, there’s a new player in town. The Saturday Brunch is becoming the new food trend across Dubai and everyone’s jumping on the wagon: hotels, independent restaurants, small eateries – we can’t go through a full day without receiving information about a new Saturday shindig in the city. For those who are opting to end their weekend on a high, but still want to keep things relaxed, tasty and, most of all, full of quality food and good vibes, brunching on Saturday is the perfect answer. After all, who wants to disturb the Friday lie-in and family get-togethers?

One place that’s offering up flavour-packed food with vibrant interiors, good service and a true laid back ambiance is Little Miss India at Fairmont The Palm. The venue is one of the newest on the food scene, but has already started to make its mark with a variety of dining deals to entice diners. The eccentric décor catches our attention, immediately. The ornately furnished interiors boast pure Indian summerhouse vibes with elegant paintings and leafy wallpaper, a ceiling reminiscent of Indian gajras (flower garlands) and the pièce de résistance, a Tribal Art Taxi adorned in the most colourful, Indian-inspired mini murals in reds, oranges, yellows, blues, greens, pinks and any other shade that would easily put a smile on your face.

We get a great flow of energy from this place and take our seats to begin the exotic culinary journey. With a concept focusing on ‘share and tear’, family style dishes and expertly infused beverages, this new weekend brunch brings an informal way to eat out with friends and family, in a 5-star outlet that offers both indoor seating and an al fresco terrace. Focusing on regional Indian flavours, the brunch entails a threecourse menu including an enormous selection of delectable sharing style dishes, made with fresh ingredients.

Now, there are two kinds of people in this world: those who like to sit and be served dishes to the table, and those who love nothing more than a good buffet. We fall into the former group. However, from previous experience, we’ve learned that a sharing menu at brunch could mean that you leave unsatisfied. Not here! Enough to keep the hungriest of guests gratified, a selection of appetisers, mains and desserts are brought to the table as you sip on fragrant signature cocktails and fruity mocktails poured from the iconic tribal truck bar.

There’s something to please every palate and dietary requirement – lamb and chicken for the meat lovers, succulent Prawn Kebab for the seafood fans and vegetarian gems like the Tandoor Aloo and the Paneer Tikka. We gorge on the starters along with a delicious round of poppadoms and chutney. The mains feature the infamous Butter Chicken, Lamb Bhuna, Tikka Masala, Dal Makhani and soft-as-fudge selections of Indian breads and sides. The Butter Chicken is velvety whilst the creamy Tikka Masala is a sure fire hit at the table. The meal ends with moreish desserts including stuffed Gulab Jamun, Phirnee Brulee and Gajjar Ka Kalwa (carrot pudding).

The latter is exquisite and a truly tasty way to end a traditionally Indian meal. The food is not just a talking point but also presented to instagram perfection! Guests can sit back and take in the  breathtaking views of the Dubai Marina skyline, whilst listening to a background of mellow beats from Little Miss India’s resident DJ, who mixes casual-cool tunes throughout the afternoon and into the evening for post brunch beverage offers. If bold flavours, fragrant aromas and satiating spices is your thing, the Indian cuisine at the LMI Saturday Brunch won’t disappoint.
