ALL-ELECTRIC MOBILITY

Cars of the future are at the very heart of the BMW brand.

The BMW i4, due to be launched in November 2021, is the marque’s first electric vehicle focused squarely on driving dynamics. Locally emission-free driving pleasure, compromisefree premium quality and customer-orientated individualisation come to the traditional core of the midsize segment for the first time as the vehicle combines BMW’s fabled sporting prowess and a range that also convinces over long journeys with the elegant design, spaciousness and practicality of a four-door Gran Coupé.

The market is set to welcome two model variants: the BMW i4 M50 is the first purely electric performance car from BMW M GmbH, with 400kW/544hp, all-wheel drive and a range of up to 510 kilometres in the WLTP cycle; and the BMW i4 eDrive40 with 250kW/340hp, classical rear-wheel drive and a range of up to 590 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.

The BMW i4 is based on a flexible vehicle architecture conceived from the outset for a purely electric drive system. It boasts a long wheelbase and wide tracks; weight is minimised, yet body structure is extremely stiff; model-specific torsion struts, aluminium shear panel and a front axle subframe have a fixed connection with the casing of the high-voltage battery. And optimised aerodynamics along with newly designed chassis technology guarantee a seamless performance.

BMW i4 M50 with Sport Boost for ultra-dynamic power delivery from the two electric motors offers peak output and maximum system torque of 795Nm and acceleration of 0–100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The BMW i4 eDrive40 has maximum system torque of 430Nm and goes from 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. ✤
