The Bahrain Arts Society’s annual exhibition returns alongside a solo showcase by Dr Waleed Qanoush, bringing together works by 93 artists representing diverse schools and styles.

The Bahrain Arts Society marked the opening of its Annual Exhibition recently at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ Art Center, presented alongside a solo exhibition by artist Dr Waleed Qanoush titled Pyramid, Tree and Moon. The opening was attended by His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Arts Council and Honorary President of the Society, His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and Sheikha Marwa bint Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Arts Society, as well as ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, artists and art enthusiasts.

This year’s exhibition highlights the Bahrain Arts Society’s journey of more than four decades since its founding in 1983. Over the years, the Society has played a central role in supporting the local art scene through organising exhibitions, providing curatorial supervision and offering educational workshops and programmes for emerging artists. Through these efforts, it has helped to strengthen Bahrain’s cultural landscape at both local and regional levels and put Bahraini contemporary art on the international map.

The exhibition brings together works by 93 artists, curated and evaluated by the Society to offer a diverse artistic experience that includes painting, sculpture, photography and multimedia – all while remaining deeply rooted in local identity.

Running in parallel, Dr Waleed Qanoush’s solo exhibition presents a series of works that balance conceptual depth with visual expression. His pieces draw on symbols inspired by nature and heritage, brought together through geometric forms and precise compositions. The works explore relationships between inanimate objects, living beings and abstract concepts, offering visitors both a visual and intellectual experience.

Dr Qanoush is known for his distinguished career, combining academic creativity, artistic practice and cultural leadership, which has earnt him a prominent position in the contemporary art scene.

The Art Center is open daily from 9am to 8pm and both exhibitions will remain open to the public until February 20. ✤
