A new hybrid race will be held on the island this month, bringing together running, strength work and functional movement in a full-day fitness event open to everyone.
A fresh fitness event arrives in the Kingdom, as the Bahrain Rugby Club is set to host Hybrid 800 on February 13. Held in conjunction with Bahrain Sports Day, the race will welcome participants of all fitness levels – from serious athletes and weekend gym-goers to kids – to take part in a format that mixes running with a wide range of workout challenges.
A hybrid race combines the main pillars of fitness: cardio, strength, functional movement and endurance. Participants move through a course made up of 10 exercise stations, each separated by an 800-metre run. The stations include Assault Bike, Farmer’s Carry, Devil Press, Row Machine, Dumbbell Snatch, Lunges, Burpee Broad Jump, SkiErg (skiing cardio machine), Bear Crawl and Wall Balls, creating a full-body challenge that tests all areas for a well-rounded experience.

The event will run from 7am to 7pm, with registration opening at 7am and the first wave starting at 8am. Racing wraps up at 6pm, followed by a presentation hour to announce winners and hand out cash prizes for each category. Kids will also receive prizes, which are yet to be confirmed.
Adults can enter Hybrid 800 as solo competitors or doubles (male, female or mixed), while younger participants have dedicated categories for ages eight to nine, 10 to 11, 12 to 13 and 14 to 16. Kids will complete 20 each of burpees, farmer’s carries, lunges, squats and wall ball, plus a 200-metre run between each station. All workouts will be led by professionals who will guide competitors based on their fitness level.
Spectators can attend the event at no charge, although numbers will be limited due to space, and the Bahrain Rugby Club will also be open to non-members for the day, making it easy for families and friends to be part of the fun. Ahead of race day, a shorter version of Hybrid 800 will be offered to the public at Bahrain Bay on February 12 as part of the GSA Sports Day celebrations, giving people a chance to experience the race for free in a simplified format.

Registration is open until February 6 with tickets priced at USD76 for adult solo competitors (16 years and above), USD155 for doubles and USD28 for children. ✤
