Art, culture and history collide in a special showcase, as La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art looks back at two decades of exhibits, performances and initiatives that have left their mark.
La Fontaine is marking more than two decades since its opening with a special La Fontaine Through The Years exhibition. Running until December 31, the showcase reflects the centre’s journey from its beginnings in 2002 to the present, through a collection of photographs, artworks and memories.
The exhibit revisits key milestones across the years, highlighting both archival material and significant artworks that have shaped La Fontaine’s story. Pieces include multimedia artwork by Jean Marc Sinan (2002), Dream Tracks by Irenie Ngalinba (2006), Life Journey by Fereshta Shishine (2018) and more recent contributions such as Beyond the Veil by Iris Morata (2025).
La Fontaine Through The Years is more than a look back. It also embraces a spirit of solidarity, with 20% of the proceeds from the artwork sales going towards the Global Sumud Flotilla GCC, an international initiative delivering aid to Gaza and Palestine. Buyers will also receive an acknowledgement letter from the organisers as a token of appreciation.
Since its inception, La Fontaine has opened its doors with the dual mission of preserving a historic Bahraini landmark and creating a space where art, culture and community could thrive. ✤
