Major winners, rising stars and home-grown talent headline a stellar field for the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship which runs from January 29 to February 1 at the Royal Golf Club.

With just one week to go until the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, the Kingdom is preparing to welcome one of the most exciting fields in the tournament’s history – plus a packed programme of entertainment that makes this much more than a golf event.

Best of all? Entry is completely free.

The World is coming to Bahrain

The Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship is a key stop on the DP World Tour’s International Swing – a seven-event series that sees golf’s global tour visit five countries across the Middle East and Africa. Beginning with a Dubai double-header at the Dubai Invitational and the Rolex Series Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the swing continues to Bahrain and Qatar before heading to Kenya and South Africa.

For players, there’s plenty at stake beyond the USD2.75 million prize fund: the leading performer across the International Swing earns a USD200,000 bonus, entry into every event in Phase Two of the season, and a place at the prestigious Genesis Scottish Open.

Star-Studded Field

The USD2.75 million DP World Tour event at Royal Golf Club features a stellar line-up including Major winners Sergio Garcia (Spain) and Pádraig Harrington (Ireland), defending champion Laurie Canter (England), 2024 winner Dylan Frittelli (South Africa) and current Race to Dubai leader Jayden Schaper (South Africa).

The field showcases the depth of talent on the DP World Tour, with 2025 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Martin Couvra (France) joined by fellow rising stars Ángel Ayora (Spain) and Angel Hidalgo (Spain). Former US Open champion Patrick Reed adds further star power, while fan favourites, including Pablo Larrazábal, Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Thomas Detry, will all be in action.

Bahraini Pride

Three Bahraini golfers will proudly represent the Kingdom after earning their places through the national qualifying pathway: Ahmed Alzayed, Khalifa Almaraisi and Ali Mohamed Alkowari. They will be joined by England’s Tom Sloman (King Hamad Trophy winner) and Malaysia’s Zubair Firdaus (Bahrain Amateur Open champion).

The Championship Village – Where the Magic happens

While the world’s best golfers battle it out on the fairways, the Championship Village transforms Royal Golf Club into a vibrant community gathering space with entertainment for all ages:

100-metre zip line and free fall experience – soar above the course or dare to take on the free fall on one of the event’s most thrilling attractions, with panoramic views across the Royal Golf Club!

How to spend a day at the Championship (even if you’re not a golf nut)

Morning: Arrive mid-morning and grab a coffee from one of the F&B outlets. Take a leisurely stroll around the course – the atmosphere is relaxed and the players are often happy to acknowledge the crowds. The kids can burn off energy in the dedicated kids’ zone while you explore.

Lunchtime: Browse the traditional Bahraini souq for unique crafts and local products, then choose from the food trucks for a casual lunch. For something more indulgent, upgrade to Ticket+ Brunch (Friday and Saturday only, from BD55) for unlimited BBQ and beverages on the terrace overlooking the 18th green.

Afternoon: Time to get the adrenaline pumping with a ride on the 100-metre zip line – it’s the perfect way to see the course from above. Watch the leaders coming through the back nine on the big screens from one of the shaded chill-out zones.

Evening: As the temperature cools and the sun dips, the Championship Village comes alive. Enjoy live music, soak up the atmosphere, and watch the dramatic final holes. It’s the perfect end to a perfect day.
