Cultural Double Bill

National heritage and musical nostalgia take centre stage this month with a museum exhibition and an evening of orchestral favourites from animated classics.
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) presents two standout events this June – an ongoing exhibition rooted in national heritage and a concert that brings animated classics to the stage.
Running until June 30 at the Bahrain National Museum, Cultural Assets: Ibrahim Yousif Hassan Al Hassan Collection offers a rare look at more than a century of local history through artefacts donated by the Al Hassan family. The exhibition traces the family’s long-standing role in Muharraq’s cultural life, from pearl trading to education, including their involvement in establishing Al Hedaya Al Khalifiya School in 1919. Items on display date back to their ancestor, great grandfather Al Tawash (pearl merchant) Hassan bin Ibrahim Ahmed Al Hassan (1887–1982). The exhibition is a result of BACA’s initiative to enhance the role of the local community in preserving and promoting Bahrain’s cultural heritage. It is open daily from 8am to 8pm, except Tuesdays.
Later in the month, the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra takes the stage at Bahrain National Theatre with Symphonies of Animation on June 27. Led by Bahraini Maestro Dr Mubarak Najem, director of the Police Band and founder of the Bahrain Music Institute, the performance features music from well-known animated films.

Founded in 2022 by Maestro Mubarak Najem, the orchestra comprises more than 100 talented musicians and choir members and is a vibrant cultural initiative that reflects the vision of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to establish the Kingdom as a beacon of culture and creativity.
The concert is open to those aged eight and above, with tickets available at Virgin Megastore, starting at BD5.5. Both events reflect BACA’s ongoing efforts to highlight Bahrain’s cultural identity. From museum visits to live music at the theatre, it’s a good month to make the most of what’s on. ✤
