Golf fans are in for a treat as the DP World Tour returns to Bahrain for the first time in 13 years.

The DP World Tour, the leading men’s professional golf tour in Europe, will be making its long-awaited return to the Kingdom with the Bahrain Championship, scheduled to take place next month. The tournament, with a prize fund of USD2.5 million, will be held from February 1 to 4 at the Royal Golf Club. It is being organised in cooperation with the club, the General Sports Authority, the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority.

Being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the competition will mark the DP World Tour’s first visit to the Kingdom since 2011 and forms part of the International Swing on the 2024 Race to Dubai.

Ryder Cup legend Thomas Bjorn, Denmark’s most successful golfer of all-time with 15 DP World Tour wins to his name, will return to Bahrain for the first time in 13 years. “I am looking forward to returning to Bahrain and seeing how the country has changed since my last visit,” he said.

Bjorn will be teeing it up alongside rising stars Dan Bradbury, Alex Fitzpatrick, Yannik Paul and Jordan Smith, who have also confirmed their spots in the hotly anticipated event. The Royal Golf Club course is set to be in immaculate condition after undergoing extensive upgrades, with a number of greens on the front nine having been redesigned.

General admission is free of charge for spectators, with a host of premium experiences available, as well as a full programme of entertainment, including live music and a wealth of food and beverage (F&B) options, for the whole family to enjoy.

The premium experiences include the Championship Chalet on the 18th green, with access to the clubhouse and a privileged viewing platform inclusive of five-star offerings of F&B, hops and grape, with prices starting at BD79. While Ticket+ will give guests access to the clubhouse and the terrace, with spectacular views of the 18th and a designated self-paid bar, with prices starting at BD13.

Additionally, golf lovers will be given the chance to play alongside the DP World Tour stars by purchasing a spot in the Pro-Am taking place on January 31. Prices start at BD825 and include an invitation to the exclusive Bahrain Championship Players Party, a one-night stay at the official hotel and a host of other benefits. ✤
