An impressive hospitality career with more than 28 years of experience, Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay’s Commercial Director has spent almost 18 years with the brand in various countries. He talks about the island’s biggest draw as a destination, top qualities to succeed in sales and what gets his adrenaline pumping.

What makes Bahrain and Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay a standout destination?
Bahrain has great potential to be discovered by international travellers. The island preserves its authentic identity, while perfectly blending traditional and modern elements. The warm hospitality of Bahraini people is the biggest draw. The opportunity for travellers to engage with locals and truly experience the culture is invaluable. Additionally, the high level of education on the island is appreciated by visitors, especially as they interact with local people. With its cleanliness, safety and modernity, Bahrain caters to all types of travellers, whether they are here for leisure or business. It’s important to focus on capturing the interest of international visitors from diverse markets and continue promoting our destination through strong collaboration between Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, hotels and other tourism professionals. Speaking of Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, it is a destination within a destination.
Located on its own island and surrounded by lush gardens, it offers privacy and exclusivity, while remaining well-connected to the city, as it’s in the heart of Bahrain. It’s a paradise for families and children, thanks to its family-friendly facilities. Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape or a wellness retreat, we have the perfect options. With both indoor and outdoor event spaces and world-class dining options, we cater to all needs, whether guests are visiting for business or leisure. Most importantly, our team, with members’ genuine hospitality, makes all the difference. Our team members pay exceptional attention to detail and provide personalised service, while being their authentic selves. This is why a high percentage of our guests are repeat visitors.

What top three qualities should one have to be in sales?
In my opinion, adaptability, resilience and empathy are the top three qualities for someone to succeed in sales.
Adaptability is crucial, as you need to adjust your approach based on different markets and client demands. Resilience is equally important because sales can be unpredictable and you must always be ready for challenges, thinking of alternative options and solutions. Lastly, empathy is essential. Understanding and anticipating your client’s needs and expectations is key to building a genuine relationship.

If you weren’t in the hospitality industry, what would your dream job be?
Honestly, I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I love hospitality and I enjoy engaging with people. Even if I weren’t a hotelier, I would still be involved in a hospitalityrelated business.

What is your go-to strategy for dealing with stress?
I love sports. Working out is the best way for me to release stress and pressure. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I love adrenaline! I’ve done bungee jumping and skydiving. In fact, I went skydiving twice on the same day last year. I even jumped from above the pyramids in my hometown, Cairo. It was one of the most unforgettable and exhilarating experiences of my life! ✤
