With two decades of experience with the Marriott International group, from across China to Egypt, the recently appointed General Manager of Sheraton Bahrain Hotel is no stranger to the brand. Taking the helm, he now brings his operational expertise and a fresh vision to one of the island’s most iconic properties.
Congratulations on your new role at Sheraton Bahrain.
What’s been the most exciting part of the job so far, and what are you most looking forward to in the coming months?
I am excited to be part of this amazing Kingdom and community, and I feel privileged to take over an iconic hospitality establishment that has stood the test of time. I look forward to working with the team to expand our presence, sharpen our focus on the future, enhance collaborations with existing partners and build new milestones together.
Sheraton Bahrain has seen its fair share of spectacular weddings and events. What makes the hotel such a special place to celebrate?
Various celebrations, including family gatherings of all kinds, took place at the old Sheraton, leaving a lasting sentiment. While we honour that history, we’ve infused a contemporary flair into the venue. The couples who previously celebrated their weddings here now consider the new Al Taj Ballroom, which is a true gem. It boasts spectacular features and its own entrance for convenience, along with a spacious pre-function area ideal for receptions and catering. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are versatile, perfect for hosting a variety of events.

You started in food and beverage, moved into operations and now you’re running the show. What has kept your fire burning over the years?
I have a passion for all aspects of food and beverage operations, with a focus on exceeding and enhancing the guest experience at every level.
Hotels see all sorts of surprises – what’s the most unusual, funny or memorable moment you’ve witnessed in your years in hospitality?
I’ve had countless memorable moments working in various hotel styles across China, Cairo and Europe. Hosting highly accomplished personalities has always been a highlight, especially during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the G20 Summit in 2016, where I had the privilege of meeting heads of state and world leaders.
Since moving to Bahrain, are there any local traditions, foods or places you’ve really fallen for?
The Manama Souq is a vibrant local marketplace that embodies the rich traditions and culture of Bahrain. This bustling hub is a treasure trove of handcrafted goods, spices, textiles and traditional Bahraini cuisine. ✤
