Glitz, Glamour, And Jewellery Galore

Back for another year of classy bling is the annual Jewellery Arabia exhibition, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The exhibition is the largest in the prestigious 24-year history of the series. For five spectacular days, over 600 exhibitors from 30 nations will showcase their precious wares across an area of 21,000sqm at the venue, which includes specially commissioned temporary halls. On sale will be a dazzling range of finished jewellery, luxury timepieces, precious stones, antiques, objets d’art, jewellery packaging and technology from around the globe.

Famous jewellery houses will be making a return appearance, including major brand names and a selection of Bahrain’s leading jewellers. Many of these high profile international jewellery and watch brands will use the exhibition as a platform to introduce exclusive collections and limited edition pieces to the Middle East collector’s market.
The world’s most valuable guitar will make its Middle East debut at Jewellery Arabia 2015 as part of a global tour. The CORONET Gibson guitar has an estimated value of $2 million and will be unveiled on November 24 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The fully functional musical instrument is adorned with 11,441 diamonds (401.15 carats) set in 1.6 kg of 18k white gold. It took a team of 68 artisans up to 700 man-days to complete the showpiece.

Fawzi Al Shehabi, Arabian Exhibition Management’s Director of Sales and Marketing, says: “The show has grown by 17 per cent in 2015, and is our largest show to date. Visitors can look forward to new exhibitors and features, exclusive previews, inspiring trends, one-of-a-kind design pieces and the opportunity to purchase from the largest selection of jewellery and watches in the Middle East.”

Complementing these iconic brands are nine national groups from leading jewellery export countries. They include returning delegations of the finest retailers, designers and manufacturers from Hong Kong, India, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and the UK. New for 2015 is a group from the USA. Collectively, these groups reflect the very best manufacturing capabilities, design expertise and gemological resources that their respective countries have to offer.

This is your chance to get up-close with some of the most precious and beautiful jewellery items in the world – enjoy.

Double Tap 4: Here and Now

After three successful Double-Tap galleries, curator duo Stafford and Sharabi promise to close this year’s series in true beauty! Themed Here and Now, the last Double-Tap presents imagery collected from artists via instagram. The brief was simple: express your immediate reaction to the statement Here and Now. Artists of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities were invited to post images on instagram of as many works as they wanted in any medium they desire, simply ensuring that they include the hashtag #malja_hereandnow and a brief description of their work.

The resulting body of work communicates emotions, current sentiments, common grounds, unity despite diversity and the immediacy of social media in connecting artists worldwide. Shared thoughts, sentiments and themes arise, which regardless of borders, and nationality or culture, pose similar philosophical questions.

GO: Double Tap 4: Here and Now launches on November 7 at 7pm, in Malja Bahrain. Visit for more information.
