A Walk in Ulysses’ Garden
Art fans, get over to Café La Ventana from March 12 onwards as the venue will play host to a small exhibition by award-winning Australian artist, Matthew Sansom. Titled Ulysses’ Garden, the showcase depicts glorious Australian flora and fauna from the stunning landscape around Matthew’s studio in Byron Bay. Persian and Oriental art has influenced Matthew’s style featuring lush, metallic leaf backgrounds.
A poem called Story Water by Persian poet Rumi is the theme of the exhibition. Produced over the Australian winter of 2015, Matthew’s inspiration was derived from morning walks in nature and the beach. He says: “The environment offers themes of thriving, being, expansion and renewal. The Ulysses butterfly became a symbol for creative transformation. Through these paintings I was able to express the beautiful things I saw and felt when walking in the garden.”
GO: Ulysses’ Garden will be on display at Café La Ventana from March 12 to April.

Hed Kandi at Bushido
If you love a good party, get down to Bushido for Hed Kandi later this month. Irish DJ and Producer Eibhlín (pronounced Evelyn) will be taking to the decks and spinning some of the best international dance and house music for partygoers to enjoy. From a very early age, Eibhlín was heavily influenced by the dance music scene. Her mother has been running a well renowned nightclub for the past 30 years in her home town of Tralee. Eibhlín would often sneak in the back door to watch many top DJs perform and tinker with the turntables during the downtime.
Her obsession with dance music and events grew rapidly and eventually she made the decision to move to London to pursue her passion full time. Her superior tune selection, turntable finesse, uplifting nature and magnetic personality was spotted by global music brands Hed Kandi and Ministry of Sound where she was asked to become one of their main international residents. Embracing the opportunity whole-heartedly, Eibhlin has gone from strength to strength and now has become a regular fixture on the international dance music scene.
