Doha – Qatar. W Doha Hotel & Residences, the first luxury lifestyle hotel in Qatar, will showcase an art exhibition named ‘Minber’ at ART 29 with the participation of 15 Senior and Junior artists from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts in Qatar (VCU Arts Qatar). The gallery is comprised of several pieces of art that reflect individual identities, representing the students’ several years of research and creative practice. The opening reception for the gallery was held on November 27th, 2018 at 7 pm and will be open to the public until December 10th,2018, from 10am-10pm daily.



“Minber”, meaning ‘the stage’ in Arabic, is a celebration of the artistic practice that is showcased by contemporary artists nowadays. The talented group of VCU Arts Qatar students who will display their stirring compositions representing each of their personal journeys include: Amna Al Muftah, Amna Al Thani, Amira Radhi, Munira Al Thani, Aisha Al Abdulla, Salma Awad, Tiflah Al Naimi, Sarah Al Joyyousi, Peppy Prathyusha, Joseph Zampetti, Maryam Al Thani, Amena Al Mulla, Yara Elfouly, Hana Elleithy and Noor Alsheibani.



“Minber”, as an exhibition, showcases how the students employed a variety of approaches, materials and techniques into their paintings and printmaking. The talented artists have adopted an array of research techniques and styles into their pieces that each tell their personal story. The art gallery will create a dialogue of each of the artist’s conceptual and aesthetic backgrounds and what inspired them to visualize each of their personal pieces.
