This follows the successful opening of a cake counter at the end of May.

Despite the pandemic, Chef Reif Othman is expanding his culinary empire with the opening of Kushi by Reif at Depachika Food Hall on Palm Jumeirah. This follows the successful opening of a cake counter at the end of May and several popular weekend popups that followed, previewing the restaurant’s new menu of Japanese comfort food.

In addition to Reif’s signature Japanese spin on classic desserts such as goma cheesecake, matcha rolls, yuzu éclairs and tiramisu boba, Kushi by Reif will introduce a menu featuring signature sandos, ramens, donburi and kushiyaki.

Kushi by Reif is a mini twist on the Singaporean chef’s acclaimed Reif Japanese Kushiyaki restaurant that opened in August last year at Jumeirah’s Dar Wasl Mall with a smaller, compact menu of simple Japanese soul fare.

“We have been humbled with the reception so far for our cakes and weekend popups. We see a lot of demand for comfort food that offers great value, and so I am keen to offer residents some simple Japanese classics – all with my own trademark twist. With this new Palm Jumeirah location, we are now able to easily feed residents across that side of town as well as Jumeirah,” said chef-owner Reif Othman.

Highlights from the new menu include the ever-popular Wagyu Katsu Sando, the Chili Soft Shell Crab Sando, a Tori karaage donburi bowl, 72hrs Ribs Ramen, Miso Cod Ramen, Chicken Kushiyaki and Angus Beef Kushiyaki.

All dishes are available for dine-in, takeaway and delivery – the latter through Deliveroo.
