ISLAND INSIDER

Nahed Guiga
Director of Sales, The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residences & Spa

Where did you get the taste for the hospitality industry? What inspired you towards this career path?
I come from a hotelier family who love the hospitality itself and inspired me to follow their steps. The hospitality industry allows you to develop yourself – professionally as well as personally – and I have had the opportunity to grow in my speciality area while also contributing to the companies I have worked with.

What do you love/enjoy most about your job?
Working in hospitality teaches you skills you could not learn anywhere else. It teaches you about prioritisation, about swift problem-solving, about communication and also about working well as part of a team, plus this industry is constantly developing and learning new ways to improve experiences for our visitors and guests. The sales job specifically is about challenging yourself, continuously developing your skills and growing your professional capabilities.

How do you see your career progressing – where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
Since I started my career I have had an objective to grow within the sales department and become a Director of Sales, as an ambitious person I always dream big and see myself as a successful woman. Learning new skills which I will benefit from as well as the company I’m working for is very important for my own fulfilment. My energy and passion always help me towards achieving my career goals.
