Preparing For The Future
Participants in various programmes at Youth City 2030 at Exhibition World Bahrain received a pleasant surprise when a senior government official came to visit.
The kingdom’s Minister of Health, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayyed Jawad Hasan was greeted by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, the Minister of Youth Affairs, who then briefed her on the project’s different sections.
Dr. Jaleela reviewed the objectives of Youth City 2030 and the programmes in its latest edition, which focus on science, technology, the arts, culture, leadership, entrepreneurship, media, entertainment, sports and health.
These initiatives, totalling 148 programmes and more than 4,000 training opportunities, aim to enhance youth skills and capabilities.
Dr. Jaleela also explored the ‘Mutanafas’ campaign, which promotes mental health awareness and the National Genome Station, highlighting the city’s role in supporting health awareness and youth development.
Launched in 2010 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, in collaboration with Tamkeen, the kingdom’s Labour Fund, Youth City 2030 is an initiative that focuses on comprehensive capacity and skills development and intends to empower Bahraini youth, recognising them as a driving force in the country.
The annual event, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with Tamkeen each year, has evolved into an important enterprise as it provides crucial training for young people in Bahrain to help boost their qualifications and provide them with all the possibilities to unlock their creative potential.
It has gone from strength to strength in the last 14 years. In the 2023 edition, Bahraini youth had access to more than 100 programmes and 2,700 training opportunities delivered across five public centres: leadership and young entrepreneurship, media and entertainment, arts and culture, science and technology, in addition to sports and culture.
