Welcomed by Nappa leather seats with diamond quilting, we felt well-supported as we took in the premium environment. Real carbon fibre garnishes accent the cabin, adding a high-end sporty touch. The highlighting is in suede, contributing a rich, tactile feel to the upper surfaces, reinforcing the sense of tailored luxury.

The driver-oriented layout of the cockpit includes a crystal dial-type, shift-by-wire system and a sporty, power-adjustable, D-shaped memory steering wheel, complete with paddle shifters. The car’s clean feel is enhanced by a digital, frameless ECM rearview mirror, while the overall interior vibe can be customised via the ambient mood lighting.

Performance Meets Precision

Engaging the ignition, we admired the rumbling sound of the Royal Sport 3.5T’s Twin Turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine. Capable of delivering 375hp and 530Nm of torque, this potent powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and features an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system as standard. Able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in under five seconds and achieve a top speed of around 260km/h, this mid-sized luxury SUV is much more than a highway lounger.

Taking this beauty out onto the tarmac, we immediately felt the brisk acceleration on offer, along with the SUV’s confident handling. Drive Mode Select allowed us to fine-tune the dynamics of the vehicle, meaning we could indulge in relaxed cruising or a more spirited performance when slipping into Sport+ Mode. We found the steering to be responsive and communicative, ensuring complete control of the driving experience.

Even at higher speeds, we had faith in the solid braking system. Thanks to the well-balanced feel of the chassis, we could weave our way along any roads, confident in the car’s ability to stay planted around corners. It offered great balance between sporty feedback and on-road comfort.

The GV70 Royal Sport is defined by its electronically controlled preview suspension and electronic systems that help maintain traction and composure even when pushed through tighter bends.
