Kia’s first globally launched mid-sized pickup, the all-new Kia Tasman, has arrived in Bahrain, combining strong performance, off-road capability and contemporary technology in a new lifestyle-focussed model.
Bin Hindi Group, the exclusive distributor of Kia in the Kingdom, has announced the launch of the new Kia Tasman, marking a strategic step that reflects the brand’s ambition to redefine the pickup truck segment. The new model blends robust capability with advanced technology, comfort and a refined driving experience.
The Kia Tasman represents a significant addition to Bahrain’s automotive market and arrives as a serious new contender in a rapidly growing segment. Designed to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, the vehicle caters to both daily work requirements and off-road adventures, without compromising on contemporary design or premium comfort – elements that have become hallmarks of Kia’s latest models.
Commenting on the launch, Abdulaziz Abdullah Bin Hindi, Board Member of Bin Hindi Group, said that the introduction of the Kia Tasman marks an important milestone for Kia in the Bahraini market. He explained that the model introduces a new category within the brand, referred to as the ‘lifestyle truck’, combining practicality, elegance and versatility. He added that the Tasman is available in multiple drivetrain options, specifications and colours to suit diverse preferences and needs.
Raed Al-Muti, Chief Automotive Officer at Bin Hindi Group, highlighted that the Kia Tasman stands out for its distinctive design, powerful performance and high-quality interior and exterior features. He noted that the vehicle has been engineered to compete with leading pickup models within a well-considered price range and invited customers to experience it both on-road and off-road to fully appreciate its true capabilities.
Under the bonnet, the Kia Tasman is powered by an advanced 2.5-litre turbocharged engine producing up to 277hp and 420Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth and responsive driving across various conditions.
The vehicle also offers impressive payload and towing capabilities, with a cargo bed capacity of up to 1,336 litres, a maximum payload of 1,000kg and towing capacity of up to 3,500kg with brakes, making it well suited for demanding tasks and multi-purpose use. For off-road driving, the Tasman is equipped with advanced terrain management systems, including dedicated drive modes for snow, mud, sand and rocks, as well as X-Trek Mode for stable low-speed driving. Additional features, such as an electronic rear differential lock and a Ground View Monitor camera further enhance control and driver confidence in challenging environments.
In terms of comfort and technology, the vehicle features a large infotainment display, advanced driver-assistance systems, manoeuvring cameras, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and wireless smartphone charging, with equipment levels varying by trim in the local market. ✤
