Showcasing Bahrain’s Rich Heritage And Future Vision

Dozens of young Bahrainis, who are preparing to represent the Kingdom at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, are undergoing an intensive training programme, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) throughout February, in anticipation of their roles at the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion which has the theme: Connecting Seas.

One of the world’s largest global events, Expo 2025 Osaka will run from April 13 to October 13.

The training programme is being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development; the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB); the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA); the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE); the National Communication Centre (NCC); the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies; the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) and Bapco Upstream, in addition to the Japanese Embassy in Bahrain.

BACA has emphasised that the programme aims to prepare participants to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain with pride, professionalism, and a high level of cultural awareness. Upon completing this programme, the pavilion team will be well-prepared to assume their roles and fully equipped to engage with diverse audiences, efficiently handle official responsibilities, and showcase Bahrain’s rich heritage and future vision on the global stage when the Expo opens in April.

The programme includes lectures, workshops, and field visits, covering themes such as the history and heritage of Bahrain; protocol and official etiquette; communication and media relations; Japanese culture and traditions; and general skills. Additionally, special focus is given to Bahrain’s maritime heritage, in alignment with the Pavilion’s architectural and thematic concept, which explores the impact of the sea on culture, the sustainability of pearl diving, as well as the economy and entrepreneurship.

BACA President, His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa holds the position of General Commissioner of The Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion, which is organised by BACA.

The theme for Expo 2025 Osaka is: Designing Future Society for Our Lives, with three sub-themes: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives, and Connecting Lives. Located in the Empowering Lives district, the Bahrain Pavilion spans 995 sq./m with a total height of 13.7 metres across four levels, offering a scenic view of the sea. It is designed by Lebanese French architect Lina Ghotmeh and her Paris-based studio, while the interior design and exhibition are being developed by Bahrain-based Shepherd Studio.

Organisers expect more than 28 million visitors to explore contributions from around 150 countries. The Expo will feature various events, providing opportunities for people to connect and exchange knowledge for the betterment of humanity. Each pavilion will have the opportunity to designate a national day during the Expo to celebrate its culture and values.
