The Future Of Driving

With its recent debut at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system brings a new level of personalisation and intuitive operation to upcoming models.
The BMW Group has taken in-car technology into a new era with its latest innovation, the BMW Panoramic iDrive, powered by the new Operating System X, an intelligent software platform designed to improve personalisation and digital functionality. This new holistic system will be introduced across all BMW models from the end of 2025, starting with the first series-produced Neue Klasse model.
The new technology merges four central elements into a unique display and operating concept. The BMW Panoramic Vision, a Head-Up Display concept, newly developed by BMW for projecting content, reflects visible information to all occupants, with key driving information projected directly into the driver’s line of sight. The optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display shows integrated navigation and automated driving information, with content presented in a neatly coordinated way. A newly designed central display with matrix backlight technology, features an updated menu structure with QuickSelect, offering seamless touch control and convenient operation. The new multifunction steering wheel with illuminated haptic buttons provides another layer of interaction, ensuring drivers can access functions without distraction.
BMW’s new Operating System X also supports advanced features, such as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which responds to voice commands and now integrates Large Language Models for more natural interactions. The system learns user behaviour, making proactive suggestions for settings and drive modes.
The BMW Panoramic iDrive always gives the driver the right information in the right place and at the right time, reinterpreting BMW’s customary ‘hands on the wheel, eyes on the road’ approach. ✤
