Racing fans won’t have to hold their horses for too long, as the King’s Cup Festival returns to Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club (REHC) next month, putting Bahrain once again in the international racing spotlight.
World-class horse racing, prize-winning competition and refined hospitality will take centre stage as REHC gears up for the King’s Cup Festival, due to take place on March 5 and 6, during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the festival is a key date on Bahrain’s sporting calendar and brings two evenings of exceptional racing and elite competitions.
The event features several high-profile international contests, led by His Majesty the King’s Cup for Imported Horses – Group 3, covering a distance of 2,400m and offering USD400,000 in prize money. Also on the programme are the Al Methaq Mile for Imported Horses – Listed, with a total prize of USD120,000, and the Bahrain Turf Series finale, which includes two prestigious races, Al Fateh Cup and The International Handicap, each offering prize money of USD100,000.
Away from the track, visitors can expect a relaxed Ramadan atmosphere with refined hospitality options and diverse entertainment and activities at the Turf Village. A Best Dressed competition will also be held, with valuable prizes for the winners.
The King’s Cup Festival is part of the wider Bahrain Turf Club racing season, which runs every weekend until April 17 and includes 29 race days, each featuring up to 10 races. Tickets are priced at BD1 and can be purchased via the REHC’s official website or Platinumlist closer to the date. ✤
