THRILLS ON TAP COME COURTESY OF BENTLEY’S NEW BENTAYGA

If you’re seeking the benchmark for luxury SUVs, it’s here: the new Bentayga Speed by Bentley Motors.

And if recently revealed details tell us anything, it’s that luxury wasn’t sacrificed for performance, with the new model in the award-winning Bentayga family combining the W12 powertrain and many of the models’ luxurious features as standard – including the Mulliner Driving Specification. “Ahead of the launch of the new Bentayga Hybrid – the world’s only definitive luxury hybrid – in the coming months, it’s important that we still recognise the customer desire for absolute performance.

The new Bentayga Speed remains the fastest SUV in the world, but more than that, it’s also the most luxurious version of the new Bentayga – the best of both worlds, the pinnacle,” says Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive. Not only does the model maintain the performance credentials proved by its predecessor (which claimed the production SUV record at the gruelling Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2018), but it also builds on the completely refreshed design of the new Bentayga, adopting the same design DNA that is now prevalent across the British marque’s entire model range. When it comes to specs, the new Bentayga Speed amplifies the Bentayga’s extraordinary abilities, the aforementioned 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged engine delivering peak power of 635 PS (626 bhp).

Acceleration is effortless thanks to 900 Nm of torque, available as a plateau from 1,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm. Its maximum speed is also increased to 190 mph (306 km/h), while the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint is delivered in a mere 3.9 seconds. To appropriately use this level of power, the model is equipped with four on-road Drive Dynamics modes: Comfort at one extreme, Sport at the other, Bentley mode (recommended by Bentley’s chassis team in Crewe), and a Custom mode for customers who wish to create their own driving set-up. As for aesthetics? Dark-tint headlights and tail lamps, complemented by a dark tint matrix grille and lower bumper grilles as well as body-coloured elements exclusive to the Bentayga Speed, make for a captivating exterior.

Inside, a colour split option incorporates tactile Alcantara elements and unique colour accents to create a truly distinctive look. This striking option also adds contrast stitching to the quilting, completing the backrest with the ultimate statement of craftsmanship. But a Bentley’s interiors wouldn’t be complete without a cuttingedge infotainment system. Enter: a 10.9-inch high-resolution touchscreen, which now spans the entire width of the centre fascia, accompanied by a customisable dashboard, an advanced navigation system, and an array of in-car and remote services.
