United In Song

The Manama Singers (MS) and RCSI Choir join forces for a musical journey across cultures and generations.
The stage is set for an evening of melody, as the Manama Singers and the young RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Choir, take you on a journey through language, rhythm and harmony, across continents and cultures.
The concert, Chorus of Cultures, will be held on May 23, with more than 70 adult singers, including 40 Manama Singers, from over 30 nationalities sharing the stage at Downtown Rotana Ballroom.
Conducted by Stefan Els, the event will offer a vibrant celebration of global music and storytelling, bringing together voices and traditions from around the world and presenting a rich tapestry of choral and solo music.
The programme embraces the rhythms of South Africa, the dances of Eastern Europe, the drama of Latin America and the timeless beauty of Celtic and Welsh traditions. Attendees will enjoy reimagined classical works, such as Immortal Bach, iconic hits like Bridge Over Troubled Water and Puccini’s Nessun Dorma, alongside Broadway numbers and contemporary favourites like Sia’s Chandelier.
“The choir members have enjoyed rehearsing all the songs for this Chorus of Cultures concert mainly due to the infectious enthusiasm and amazing talent shown by the Musical Director, Stefan Els,” said MS Chairperson Susan Scott. “We are all excited and looking forward to performing with the RCSI choir at a new location, Downtown Rotana. We believe this will be a memorable event not to be missed.”
Founded in 1972, the Manama Singers is one of the oldest choirs in Bahrain, having been part of the island’s musical community for over five decades, recently celebrating its golden jubilee. The RCSI University Choir, just completing its first year, brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to the collaboration.
A true celebration of unity, diversity and the universal language of music, this two-hour concert starts at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm.
