Always one to keep techies on their toes, Huawei has officially launched its Watch GT 2 Pro. Available in both Classic and Sport editions, this stylish wrist piece comes equipped with a warranty card, quick start guide, USB-C charging cable, and magnetic dock. There’s also a rubber strap for both editions, and an extra leather strap for the Classic. The high-end design of the GT 2 Pro incudes a lightweight titanium body, a scratchproof sapphire glass surface, and a ceramic finish on the back. The design of this impressive device is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also allows for it to go up to 50 metres underwater. In order to connect to your smartwatch, merely download the Huawei Health app from either Google Play, Apple App Store, or HUAWEI AppGallery on your smartphone. Log in with your Huawei ID, go to devices, hit add, and select GT 2 Pro. Et voilà – you will have full notification support and can select which apps are allowed to notify you through your new smartwatch. The GT 2 Pro houses a 1.39-inch AMOLED display that is super crisp, thanks to its 454×454 pixel resolution. The colours are vibrant, and the text is very clear. Pair them together for the ultimate gift to the technophile in your life.

WATCH, LISTEN, LEARN standard watch screens to select from, and around 200 extra options waiting to be downloaded from the Huawei Health app. A built-in microphone and speaker enable you to make calls on the GT 2 Pro. Further gadget highlights include updated fitness tracking features that support over 100 types of exercise and an updated, more power-efficient sensor that ensures heart monitoring is now more accurate than it was with the original GT 2.

This watch not only monitors your blood oxygen levels, but also your sleep patterns and stress levels – how 2020 of it! The Route Back feature is another useful attribute of this smartwatch, helping you to retrace your steps should you lose your bearings. You can also store around 500 songs on the device if you’d like to leave your phone at home. Other useful outdoor features include a compass and a barometer that can warn you of any impending severe weather. Perhaps the best feature? Its unequalled battery life, which allows you to use the watch for 10 to 14 days between charges. When it’s time to recharge, place the device on the provided dock or use a new Huawei smartphone that supports reverse wireless charging. A marked improvement on its predecessor, the sleek new GT 2 Pro is officially our frontrunner in the smartwatch market.

B ut there’s more. Huawei has also launched the world’s first intelligent dynamic n o i s e – c a n c e l l i n g earphones: the FreeBuds Pro. Since their release into the market, they have been met with positive reviews. And for good reason. The FreeBuds Pro have smaller stems than their predecessor – the FreeBuds 3 – and sport a boxy design that is unique when compared to the curvier shapes of their competitors. Most significant is their ergonomic design, which allows for them to be worn for long periods of time without causing any discomfort. Combined with the selection of three different sizes of silicone tips, this ensures that your FreeBuds will stay firmly in place – even during moderate exercise. As for how this level of comfort and convenience was achieved? Huawei’s Audio Lab collected and analysed ear canal data from over 1,000 real users across the globe. Pairing these earphones with your smartphone is very straightforward. Simply flip the lid of the earphone case open and hold down the button on the side. The light inside will begin to flash white, which will then allow you to pair them with your smartphone through the Bluetooth menu. The connectivity is both stable and strong, even when you venture a fair distance away from your phone. On the outer edge of the stems is a force centre that allows you to control all media and phone calls with a series of squeezes and swipes. For example, one quick squeeze pauses your music, and one more resumes it again.

A doublesqueeze skips forward a music track, while a triple-squeeze skips back a track. Swiping your finger up or down the stem raises or decreases the volume – admittedly, this takes a little getting used to, but it’s a good system that works effectively. The sound quality of the Freebuds Pro is fantastic, with great clarity and sound stabilisation. In fact, they boast the best noise cancellation on the market, neutralising up to 40 decibels of sound as a result of Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation Technology that detects out-of-ear and in-ear residual noise. Also designed to read their surroundings, they recognise ambient sounds intelligently and switch noise-cancellation mode accordingly. Noteworthy is the unique Voice Mode that reduces ambient sounds to make human voices stand out, which means you’ll never miss an airport announcement again. You can make the most of your FreeBuds Pro with the HUAWEI AI Life app – just a few taps and you can choose from different noise-control modes, track their location, and more. Like the aforementioned GT 2 Pro, the Freebuds Pro’s battery life is also very impressive, with Huawei claiming you will get up to 30 hours of battery life between the earbuds and the case. Available in Carbon Black, Silver Frost, and Ceramic White, the new Huawei Freebuds Pro are sure to impress all those lucky enough to purchase a pair. ✤
