Four photographers from Bahrain and Italy are coming together with Crossroads at the Bahrain National Museum.
This October, the Bahrain National Museum opens its doors to Crossroads, a photography exhibition organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. Featuring Bahraini artists Ghada Khunji and Hanan Hassan Al-Khalifa alongside Italian photographers Loredana Mantello and Valentina Eleonora Costa, the show explores culture, identity and the creative connections that bring the countries closer together.
Ghada’s When in Arabia focusses on her homeland, documenting people and landscapes that capture Bahrain in transition. Through her portraits and environmental scenes, she reveals how tradition and modernity coexist, creating a layered portrait of resilience and belonging.
Hanan presents Capturing Humanity: The Rich Tapestry of Daily Life, turning her lens to fleeting moments that make up the everyday. With an eye for gestures, rituals and encounters, her photographs elevate the ordinary into something quietly profound.
Italian photographer Loredana shifts perspective in Celestial Vaults, directing the viewer’s gaze upwards. Her images of sacred domes and ceilings explore devotion, beauty and the universal human search for transcendence.
Completing the quartet is Valentina’s Venice & the East, A Timeless Dialogue. Her photographs and fabric fragments reflect the centuries-long relationship between Venice and Byzantium, tracing cultural exchange through architecture, textiles and ornament.
Together, their works illustrate the many ways these intersections shape our understanding of the world. Crossroads opens on October 9 at 6pm at the Bahrain National Museum. ✤
