Creating An Inclusive Community

Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral and Communication Difficulties, Alia Autism Center, and The Westin & Le Méridien City Centre Bahrain organised the On-Work Training Program for Young People with Concerns. They are now proud to announce that the first set of participants for the year have graduated.

The programme’s goal is to provide meaningful job opportunities so that students with particular needs will be easily integrated into the community. The graduates left with clear ideas including what kind of job they want to pursue, their ideal workplace and how to tap their personal and professional network for employment. The students were helped and supported throughout the programme and job search.

The Westin & Le Méridien City Centre Bahrain hired two of the graduates, who will join the housekeeping and kitchen departments. The Marriott properties are the first to recruit students directly from the programme since its launch back in 2003.

The initiative highlights how crucial it is for people with particular needs to be included in the community. The knowledge and self-assurance that participants will acquire through in the course will enable them to secure fulfilling jobs and feel a stronger sense of belonging.
