Roka Comes to Bahrain

Azumi Restaurant Group brings the multi-award-winning Japanese robatayaki restaurant, ROKA, to Bahrain Bay, as part of its continued Middle East expansion plan.

Azumi, the renowned global restaurant group behind the celebrated Zuma and ROKA brands, in partnership with Infracorp, announced the grand opening of ROKA Bahrain, which took place on April 14. Located in the heart of Bahrain Bay on the eight-floor rooftop of the all-new Pearl House, the restaurant houses an expansive outdoor terrace area, offering breathtaking sea views and a stunning sunset setting.

Following the tremendous success of Zuma London, Rainer Becker, Co-founder and Creator of both brands, quickly recognised the huge popularity of Robatayaki cuisine and opened ROKA Charlotte Street, London in 2004, followed in later years by ROKA in Dubai, Riyadh, Istanbul, Kuwait and Jeddah, with the addition of pop-ups in Barcelona and Mallorca. Today, with 20 years of expertise, making its mark across countries and receiving countless awards, the contemporary Japanese Robatayaki restaurant makes its way to the Kingdom.

ROKA Bahrain is primed to entice food enthusiasts with acclaimed signature Robatayaki dishes, from the Kankoku Fu Kohitsuji, lamb cutlets with Korean spices and sesame cucumber, to the Bekupoteto, baked potato with yuzu cream and chives, and the Sake No Taru Taru, salmon tartare with den miso and yuzu, each masterfully designed to deliver an unparalleled dining experience. ROKA Bahrain also unveils a selection of Manama-exclusive culinary creations that will join the eatery’s global staples such as the milk chocolate and mascarpone lotus with blueberry and cacao crumble, complemented by a scoop coffee ice cream and the baked passion fruit cheesecake with berries and black sesame crumble.

“We’re thrilled to launch ROKA in the vibrant city of Manama, marking a pivotal step in our Middle East expansion,” said Rainer Becker. “Bahrain’s cosmopolitan food and beverage scene, steeped in rich history and global influences, makes it an ideal destination for ROKA. With our blend of authentic Japanese cuisine and contemporary flair, we’re confident ROKA Bahrain will be a firm favourite among food enthusiasts. This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate two decades of ROKA’s success.”

True to the brand’s signature style, the restaurant’s interiors elegantly combine traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern design. The robata – a feature synonymous with ROKA – teases its own central role with its charred copper façade, a homage to the robata flames. Moreover, guests can enjoy al fresco dining and stunning sunsets on the rooftop terrace.

The eatery will also feature its signature photo wall experience, filled with contrasting amber rocker switches, creating the perfect photo opportunity for guests. This aesthetic balance is further nuanced by custom Japanese paper cherry blossom hues, offering an inspired space to soak up the music and ambience framed by ROKA Bahrain’s resident DJ to elevate the experience by the bar.

The restaurant will operate from 5.30pm to 12am, from Sunday to Thursday and 12.30pm to 12.30am on Friday and Saturday. Reservations are now open and can be made via https://rokarestaurant.com/en/roka-bahrain/make-reservations.
