Why Is It Worth Watching?
The Way of Water kicks off back at Pandora more than a decade after the events of the first film and continues the story of Jake Sully (Worthington) and Neytiri (Saldana) of the Omaticaya clan, who are now parents of four Na’vi children and an adopted human boy who is the son of the prequel’s main antagonist Colonel Miles Quaritch (Lang). However, Jake Sully and his family are forced to leave their forest home when humans return to prepare Pandora for human colonisation, as Earth is on the brink of becoming uninhabitable.
Part of the team that’s hunting Sully and his family are ‘recombinants’ (Na’vi avatars that have been implanted with the minds and memories of deceased human soldiers), and among them is Colonel Quaritch’s recombinant serving as their leader and determined to get revenge.
Sully and his family flee to Pandora’s vast network of islands, taking refuge among the oceanic Metkayina clan and attempting to adopt to their new tribe’s customs. This is where the events of the movie play out, all while Quaritch is on a murderous quest to find them!
This sequel is a visually stunning affair and warrants a watch in 3D to completely appreciate the immense advancements in CG used to create the breathtaking in-movie world.
