ISLAND INSIDER

Assem Aouf
Food & Beverage Manager, Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa

How significantly does The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa contribute to Bahrain’s leisure and tourism industry?
I have been working with Radisson Hotel Group for more than five years now. At The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa in Bahrain, we have all segmentations – groups, corporates and leisure and many events such as conferences, weddings, exhibitions and National Day celebrations, as well as daily activities. Also, I would like to mention that in Bahrain, the country is open and ready for all big events, parties and international competitions. There’s great support from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism for all of those activities.

How did you decide to pursue a career in hospitality?
The hospitality sector is an ideal choice if one’s goals are stability and growth. In this industry, no two days will be the same. You will meet new people and face new challenges every day, thus the chances of a hospitality job becoming mundane are very rare. For me, life without it would be dry; hospitality is the oxygen that we all need. Personally, I chose a career in this field because I am passionate about learning about other cultures and people’s customs.

When you’re not dining at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa, which is your favourite cuisine to explore on the island?
At The Diplomat Radisson Blu, we have many food options, including international, Mediterranean, Asian and Italian cuisines. So, most of the time, I prefer to dine here. But, my favourite cuisine to explore is Middle Eastern.
