The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain has launched a new pop-up restaurant named Vivir, the fourth offering among a series of pop-up concepts on the famous al fresco venue, Nikmati.

Vivir, meaning ‘to live’, is run by Madrid-born Spanish Chef Miguel Martinez, all the way from The Ritz-Carlton Abama in Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

A true craftsman, Miguel has acquired a deep knowledge and understanding of the culinary process working in several one- and two-Michelinstarred restaurants over the years, most recently at the two-starred M.B with Chef de Cuisine Erlantz Gorostiza, under Chef Martin Berasategui who has gained 12 Michelin stars over his career. Vivir’s special menu takes inspiration from Spain’s rich culinary heritage and features signature tapas such as croquetas; traditional crispy béchamel oxtail stew, and Andalusian-style squid; fresh squid fried in tempura with citrus alioli. The chef’s special, Paella Valenciana, is one of the best-known dishes in Spanish cuisine and is made of Spanish rice Bomba, chicken and vegetables.

Located next to the marina with the sparkling Arabian Gulf as a backdrop, Vivir’s design celebrates Spanish culture with a graceful architectural setup of a traditional Spanish garden, complete with wooden pergolas and vines hanging on each side. Each table’s centrepiece is adorned with a floral arrangement that complements the garden setting.

General Manager, Bernard de Villèle, says: “Vivir is the fourth among a series of successful culinary events since we opened our first pop-up in 2020, in which the main objective is to keep providing our guests the opportunity to experience different cultures and tastes through a gastronomic journey without ever leaving the island in this unprecedented time.” Set within 20 acres of lush gardens and golden sandy beaches on the Gulf of Arabia, the 245-room, five-star city resort is one of the most elegant destinations in Bahrain.
