Ready, Set, Race!
Rev your engines and get set to experience the thrill of high-speed racing as Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East, and The Bahrain Motor Federation gear up to launch an exciting new touring car series.
Calling all racers, BIC and The Bahrain Motor Federation, represented by The Circuit Racing Commission of Bahrain (CRC), announce the introduction of a new touring car race series, set to debut later this year.
Building on the success of the popular 2,000cc Challenge, which has been a staple of the Kingdom’s racing scene for 16 seasons, the new championship will allow greater flexibility in cars eligible to enter, making it easier for new contestants to join the grid, while also helping to reduce costs for drivers. With the aim of supporting broader participation in local racing at all levels, both novices and experienced drivers are encouraged to take part.
All those interested in participating in the new championship are invited to register online at Bahraingp.com. Registered drivers will have the opportunity to attend a series of open days, workshops and seminars designed to prepare them for the upcoming season. These events are devised to help drivers understand the new rules and regulations for the series and support with sourcing and development of cars, as well as provide insights into securing sponsorship and other financial backing.
Open days will provide drivers with the chance to test out the types of cars that can be used in the new championship at BIC’s track. Local experts will also be on hand to provide guidance and support to drivers taking their first steps into racing.
Presenting exciting learning and development opportunities for motorsport enthusiasts in Bahrain, the launch of this new touring car series aims to provide inclusivity, lower the financial barriers to entry, as well as help support and educate novice racers who are looking to gain their first experience in track racing. Preliminary registration of interest is now open for drivers for the 2024/5 season. ✤
